Introduction/Department Overview
The College of Physical Therapy at San Pablo Colleges is committed to fostering excellence in physical therapy education, research, and clinical practice. Our department is dedicated to preparing highly skilled and compassionate physical therapists who contribute positively to the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
Curriculum Overview
The BSPT curriculum is structured to provide students with a solid foundation in the basic sciences, including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and kinesiology. Students also receive extensive training in therapeutic modalities, exercise prescription, manual therapy techniques, and patient assessment. It is designed to integrate classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. Clinical education components are strategically incorporated throughout the program to ensure students develop the necessary skills and competencies required for professional practice.
Clinical Internship
Clinical internship is a central component of the BSPT program, providing students with opportunities to gain practical experience under the supervision of licensed physical therapists. Students participate in clinical rotations in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, and community-based facilities. Through these clinical experiences, students have the opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, gaining exposure to a wide range of conditions and treatment approaches. Clinical rotations not only enhance students' clinical skills but also foster professionalism, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
